Unique brand opportunity to acquire a highly desirable name connected to the financial and property sectors: The Bank of Edinburgh Limited and three other shelf companies are offered for sale together with their associated domain names.
Group of Shelf Companies for Sale
Are you looking to buy a shelf company in the UK? We are selling four vintage companies linked to the finance and property sectors. Each shelf company for sale was incorporated in Scotland (between 1989 and 1994), and all have always been dormant. All are currently owned by the same parent company, although each is an entirely separate entity in its own right.
Together, they represent a unique opportunity: as well as acquiring four vintage shelf companies with full filing histories, the successful buyer will also acquire the prestigious Bank of Edinburgh name.

There are distinct advantages to buying a shelf company as opposed to forming a new company, and aged shelf companies are particularly sought after. The older a company is, the more trustworthy it seems, and off-the-shelf companies of a thirty-year vintage are few and far between.
The word “bank” is among a number of sensitive words listed by Companies House, and is not generally accepted in newly-formed company names unless you have obtained prior written permission from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
With regard to “The Bank of Edinburgh” as a name, you can rest assured of its legitimacy. While the four shelf companies we are offering for sale have always been dormant, the Bank of Edinburgh Limited was once the name of another company in our portfolio. This company was an authorised institution under the Banking Act 1987, and it traded under the name The Bank of Edinburgh Limited between 25th February 1992 and 17th October 1994, during which time it surrendered its banking licence (on 31st December 1993) to operate as an investment company instead. This company was eventually dissolved in 2013.
The Bank of Edinburgh Limited was incorporated in Scotland in May 1994 and adopted this name in October 1994. This shelf company has always been dormant and its filings are up to date at Companies House. It has only had one beneficial owner since 1994.
